Merriam-Webster dictionary, define affirmation as, “The act or an instance of affirming: state of being affirmed.” In society, people seek affirmation from people and things. Some people allow others opinion to affirm who they are and how they see themselves. Our identity  or our perception of how we see ourselves is shaped by what we allow to affirm us. What we seek affirmation from is what we will put all our time and effort. If its money you will only find fulfillment by how much money you have. There are many ways people seek to be affirmed, through relationships, through drugs, street life, alcohol, sex, church titles, and etc. In the end they will find themselves still with a void that only Jesus Christ can fill. The definition for affirmation is the declaration of the truth of something. Some people seek validation from people or things to find their self-worth or identity. After seeking affirmation from people or things they still will find that they have a void in their life. No one or nothing can confirm who you truly are, but God. There are so many people who are looking to others or things for their identity and approval, instead of God. LGBT Community accept and affirm each other, now some of the churches are affirming homosexuality, so why would LGBT community feel or see the error of their lifestyle when the churches are affirming homosexual lifestyle in churches today. Why would they repent when leaders in Christendom are coming out the closet, professing to be saved, sanctified, and full of the Holy Spirit, but operating in the spirit of perversion? I was reading an article on it called LGBT community acceptance and affirming “gay affirming.” That’s what some of the churches are doing today affirming LGBT lifestyle instead of standing on the truth of God’s word. God told me that some churches aren’t birthing out his glory, they are birthing out the spirit of perversion, the spirit of Jezebel.

1 Samuel 4:19-22 New King James Version (NKJV)19 Now his daughter-in-law, Phinehas’s wife, was with child, due to be delivered; and when she heard the news that the ark of God was captured, and that her father-in-law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and gave birth, for her labor pains came upon her. 20 And about the time of her death the women who stood by her said to her, “Do not fear, for you have borne a son.” But she did not answer, nor did she regard it. 21 Then she named the child Ichabod, [a] saying, “The glory has departed from Israel!” because the ark of God had been captured and because of her father-in-law and her husband. 22 And she said, “The glory has departed from Israel, for the ark of God has been captured.” Eli’s daughter-in-law died after giving birth to her son Ichabod because she knew God’s glory wasn’t with Israel. The sad thing today is that some churches don’t see that God’s glory has departed from them, so they are going through religious rituals, having a form of godliness, but deny God’s power. Read 2 Timothy 3:2-5.

1 Peter 1:16 says, New International Version (NIV) 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” Revelation 2:5 New Living Translation (NLT) 5 “Look how far you have fallen! Turn back to me and do the works you did at first. If you don’t repent, I will come and remove your lampstand from its place among the churches.”

The issue at hand is the churches that are affirming sin, instead of letting God’s word judge and be the standard we as Christians live by, some churches that profess to be Christ followers have deviated from the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

John 8:44-47 The Message (MSG)42-47 “If God were your father,” said Jesus, “you would love me, for I came from God and arrived here. I didn’t come on my own. He sent me. Why can’t you understand one word I say? Here’s why: You can’t handle it. You’re from your father, the Devil, and all you want to do is please him. He was a killer from the very start. He couldn’t stand the truth because there wasn’t a shred of truth in him. When the Liar speaks, he makes it up out of his lying nature and fills the world with lies. I arrive on the scene, tell you the plain truth, and you refuse to have a thing to do with me. Can any one of you convict me of a single misleading word, a single sinful act? But if I’m telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? Anyone on God’s side listens to God’s words. This is why you’re not listening—because you’re not on God’s side.”

My question is, “Why are the churches today seeking affirmation in sin?” Do we as a Body of Christ Jesus supposed to be affirming people in sin, no we don’t. If we just do what God told us in Mark 16:15-16 New Living Translation (NLT) 15 And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. 16 Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.” When we as the Body of Christ start affirming sin, then we are compromising the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The word of God should never be changed or compromised, Revelation 22:17-19 New Living Translation (NLT) says, 17 “The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” Let anyone who hears this say, “Come.” Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life. 18 And I solemnly declare to everyone who hears the words of prophecy written in this book: If anyone adds anything to what is written here, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book. 19 And if anyone removes any of the words from this book of prophecy, God will remove that person’s share in the tree of life and in the holy city that are described in this book.”

Hebrews 13:7-9 New King James Version (NKJV) 7 “Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 9 Do not be carried about[a] with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.” Many are being carried about with various and strange doctrines. They rather you teach or preach about prosperity or anything that soothes their itching ears, a word that ministers to their flesh. 2 Timothy 4:3 New International Version (NIV) 3 “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.” They don’t want you to help them mortify the deeds of their flesh and minister to their spirit man. . They are use to watered down or half-truth gospel. Know those who labor among you, not every leader is sent by God, some are doing the work of their father the devil. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 King James Version (KJV) 12 “And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; 13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.”

Question do you find affirmation in God or in people or things? Do you affirm sin instead of standing for what you as a believer of Jesus Christ know is right and truth? Is your life reflecting the standard for living righteous and holy by the Holy Word of God? Ask yourself am I affirming sin? Are you compromising the Gospel of Jesus Christ? God is the only one who we can find affirmation, but we must come up to His standards, not our own. Leaders are you compromising the gospel of Jesus to get more members in your church or more offerings?

Revelation 22:18-19, lets us know those who add or remove from His word will be judged. Church we are in a pivotal moment where the world is seeking the Body of Christ for affirmation, for answers to their questions. Please Church lets lead them to Jesus, not to man’s doctrine, or anything that’s not coming up to the whole unadulterated Word of God. John 12:32 King James Version (KJV) 32 “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”

Let us allow God’s word be the only standard we live by and show as the example to the world what God says is holy and righteous. The world is watching us let us exemplify Christ Jesus. Seek God for affirmation, not man or things. He is our Creator, He knows us, everything about us, Matthew 10:29-32 New International Version (NIV) says, 29 “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. [a] 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. 32 “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.” God know how many hairs are on your head, He knows all about you because He is our Creator. Come to God for affirmation, for He said in Matthew 11:28 New Living Translation (NLT)28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

God is the only one that can affirm you if you have looked to the world or anything else to be validated, stop only God can affirm you and reveal to you, your true identity. Many even in the Body of Christ have let the issues of their past affirm who they are and how they see themselves. Their  identity is distorted by their past or by others opinions of them. They can’t see themselves as a child of God because their past keeps reminding them of shameful and hurtful things.  God loves you let Him affirm you.
